Quick Facts About Fernwood

Picture
Fernwood Montessori is in AMI-recognized Montessori school. Fernwood was established in 1981 as Lone Oak Montessori,  a co-educational Montessori Primary and Elementary school. The school serves approximately 75  students between the ages of 2 and 12 years old (through 6th grade).

Each class has one Montessori Teacher and one assistant in addition to other support staff.  All of our lead teachers hold Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diplomas and Masters degrees in early childhood education.  Fernwood Montessori is approved by the Maryland State Board of Education and the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). AMI is an organization founded by Maria Montessori to maintain the integrity of her life's work; Fernwood, previously operating as Lone Oak, has been affiliated with AMI since its inception in 1981.
