Welcome to Fernwood

We're so glad that you're here.

We are delighted to welcome you to Fernwood Montessori, a beacon of educational excellence and a proud member and pathway school of the American Montessori Society (AMS). Here, we take pride in offering a well-rounded education that aligns seamlessly with the timeless principles of Dr. Maria Montessori.

At Fernwood, we serve children aged two to twelve, providing methodically prepared environments that cater to each child's unique developmental needs. When you step into our school, you'll witness the concentration, excitement, and genuine zest for learning exhibited by our students—an embodiment of the Montessori philosophy.

We firmly believe that the principles of Montessori create an environment where a child's natural curiosity and joy in learning can freely unfold. Here, learning is not just a process; it's a journey of exploration and wonder.

As the Head of School, I am dedicated to ensuring that Fernwood is a place where your child thrives academically, emotionally, and socially. I look forward to the privilege of sharing the magic of Fernwood Montessori School with you and being a part of your child's educational journey.

Sincerely,

Marshetta "Mars" Davis

With 16 years of experience in Montessori education and school leadership, I’m a passionate educator who believes that learning should be joyful, purposeful, and deeply engaging. I spent many years in the classroom, where I found deep fulfillment in building meaningful connections with students, families, and fellow educators. Those relationships continue to inspire my work every day.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Regent University and a Master of Arts in Education from St. Catherine’s University. I earned my Early Childhood credential from the American Montessori Society through Montgomery Montessori Institute, which further deepened my commitment to the Montessori philosophy. I’m currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership at Marymount University.

My goal as an educator and leader is to inspire students, teachers, and families alike and to thoughtfully implement the Montessori approach in ways that honor each child’s natural curiosity, independence, and potential.

Outside of my professional life, I cherish time with my family, enjoy creating art, love exploring museums, discovering new restaurants, and immersing myself in the rhythms of music.

I’m honored to serve as Head of School and excited to partner with our community to build a vibrant Montessori environment rooted in creativity, exploration, and boundless possibility.
